How we share livestock & supplies

Participating in our auction is very much appreciated, Not only does it circulate new species through the club, the proceeds provide over 50% of our Group’s operating expenses. Please review the following to ensure an efficient auction with a desirable and varied mix of items, while respecting our venue and Members’ time restraints:

    Payout Options:

80/20 Split: You can opt to receive 80% of the sale price, with 20% going to support the Group. Simply write your name on the item or its label.

100% Donation: Write “donation” on the item or its label, or leave blank (MANY thanks).

    Lot Limits & Requirements:

    • Items accepted: Aquarium, pond, or garden-related items only. Livestock and supplies must be of auctionable interest, size, or quantity. No open or expired consumables, nor broken or dirty equipment. Items not meeting these criteria may be placed on our FREE Table.
    • Lot limits: Members may bring up to 8 lots to sell. Additional items go on our FREE Table, exchanged with fellow Members, or can be donated to the auction.
    • Variety control: No more than 3 of your 8 lots can be identical species-cultivars or dry goods. (example: 3 bags of Marigold Wagtail Hi-Fin Platies).
    • Label: include the name of the item, and if possible, a brief description.
    • Livestock: should be double-bagged in fish bags or in clear hard containers, in conditioned water with 2/3 – 1/2 air space (unless using Breather Bags®). Tip: ammonia neutralizer and/or Polyfilter® can guard against toxicity.
    • Aquatic plants: should be double-bagged in fish bags or in clear hard containers in water, or single-bagged if kept wet. Avoid food storage bags as they leak and can crush a plant.
    • BAP-GAP items: Please refer to the submission rules on sawgg.org. Show your items to the BAP-GAP Chair for inspection before the auction begins.
    • Paying for items you won: Cash is preferred. If necessary, you can run a tab for Venmo or Paypal for payment right after the auction. Alert a Runner.

      Auction Etiquette:

      • Do not distract the Auctioneer once the bidding on an item has begun.
      • To bid, clearly raise your arm or hand so the Auctioneer recognizes you.
      • Please use quiet, indoor voices for side conversations during the auction.
